We were very pleased that our 10 original blueberry plants had survived the WV winter and that they were even producing fruit (these are the berries that escaped our bud picking as is required the first several years until the plant reaches maturity).
So pleased, in fact, that we ordered 100 more plants- but this time from a farm in Kentucky that had great customer service and support- we even attended an online webinar with them for new farmers! We ordered 25 each of 4 cultivars (Blue Crop, Blue Ray, Chandler and Duke). They all arrived healthy and ready to plant- although the Chandler variety were awfully small- so we’ll see. We also ordered a load of sawdust for mulching and for increasing the acidity of the soil.
Next projects will be irrigation and fencing so stay tuned.
